I do not only wish to create art, but instead to communicate with others through my work. I’m a mixed media artist that’s obsessed with the advertising industry. Mostly computer generated, my artwork serves a particular purpose, and that is to broadcast, promote, and sell ideas. It’s my responsibility to make people need things they never even knew they wanted in the first place.
Above all, my true passion is photography. Photography is like a drug to me. Before I take a shot, my heart begins to pound and my palms get all sweaty. Once I click the shutter, I’m overcome with bliss. It’s exhilarating; I just can’t get enough. When I’m out of film or fill my memory card faster than I anticipate, I’m sick.
My photos are generally candid portraits of friends and family. I don’t stage any of the photos I take; in fact, most of my subjects are completely unaware they are being photographed until after I get the shot. I believe taking these photos is what made me discover I was interested in advertising, as these photos granted me the opportunity to analyze and speculate human emotions. Without an understanding of how people react to or feel about certain things, I would never be able to efficiently market anything to anyone.
